Welcome to North Richland Hills, The City of Choice

The City of North Richland Hills and many local businesses are major sponsors of the Northeast Tarrant Arts council, which conducts cultural and educational programs in visual arts, music, drama, dance and the humanities.  The Northeast Orchestra, a community orchestra with over 60 volunteer musicians, plays four scheduled concerts annually.

With areas of rolling hills, natural streams and undeveloped wooded landscape, North Richland Hills is an oasis within a major metropolitan area.  In 1992, citizens passed a half-cent sales tax referendum for acquisition and development of park lands.  Future park lands have been purchased since then, bringing the total park land to 658 acres.

North Richland Hills' park system currently maintains playgrounds, basketball courts, lighted tennis courts and pro shop, picnic areas, softball fields, sand volleyball courts, exercise trails, soccer fields, football fields and baseball diamonds.  In May 1995 the City opened NRH2O, a $7 million water theme park.  Visitors from all parts of the Metroplex, as well as, many guest from outside the area enjoy this family oriented park.  The City also operates a recreation center at 6720 NE Loop 820, which includes a gymnasium, fitness and weight training rooms and meeting rooms.  The Senior adult Center at 7301 Bursey Road and the Dan Echols Senior Adult Center at 6801 Glenview Drive are also operated by the City.

Adjacent to NRH2O are Mountasia Family FunCenter, the Mountasia In-Line Hockey and Skating Center and Southwest Golf.  Just up the road, Texas Indoor Speedway promises to take you speeding around the race track in true kart racing style.  Restaurants are abundant, and live music, comedy, and theater are all nearby.

The City's Iron Horse Golf Course is an 18-hole Dick Phelps-designed championship golf course traversing a hardwood forest and meandering over scenic creeks and under a railroad trestle.  Rated in the Top 5 Municipal Golf Courses in the State of Texas by the Dallas Morning News, Iron Horse also offers excellent foot and bar service in a train depot-styled clubhouse, a complete pro shop, and food and beverage service from a real caboose.  An unusual feature with municipal courses, Iron Horse has prestigious home sites located along the fairways.

The City of North Richland Hills is served by NETS, a door-to-door transportation service for senior citizens.  The service is operated by the YMCA and the Fort Worth Transportation Authority.
