Hello
Everyone!
Between
April 19, and April 20, 2004 (overnight), an unknown person(s) burglarized
numerous vehicles in the City of Grapevine.
The burglaries occurred on the northwest and south side of
Grapevine.
It
appears the suspect(s) gained entry to the vehicle by smashing/prying a
window on the locked vehicles. Upon gaining entry, the suspect(s) took
CDS, golf clubs, stereo equipment, DVD players, TV monitors, and garage
door openers. The
suspect targeted both vehicles parked in the driveway and on the street.
The
City of Grapevine needs your assistance in keeping our community safe!
We
provide the following safety tips:
- Always
close your windows and lock your car doors.
An open window or unlocked door is an invitation to a criminal.
- Always
remove loose valuables from your vehicle. This includes purses,
wallets, cellular telephones and cords, laptop computers, brief cases
and mail.
- Keep
a list of serial numbers for your commonly used electronic equipment
and make a list of the make, model and serial numbers.
- Remove
your garage opener from your vehicle.
Garage door opener or house key in your vehicle could lead to
home burglary.
- Lock
the trunk, hatchback, or tailgate to deny access to your vehicle.
- At
home, park in your garage if you have one and lock your garage doors.
- Park
in a well-lighted area.
- Check
to see that your vehicle is visible from the street.
- Install
motion sensor or photocell lights in the vicinity of your garage or
the area where you park your vehicle.
Criminals hate light.
- Engrave
your valuables with your Texas driver’s license or identification
number. Typical marking
should look like this TX DL- 12345678.
The Grapevine Police Department will loan you an engraver pen.
- Report
all suspicious activity to the police ASAP.
